Fractured – Siera Vaughn

My use of shadowy, dark images, and abstracted forms combined with various materials and textures allows me to show the essence of the concealed and give it a tangible voice.  And so I illustrate the lack of duality I perceive, combined with the intensity of my emotions through the journey of life, death, and rebirth as navigated through the deeper waters of the psyche and the currents of sexuality and identity we hold as reality.

“Fractured” is the bridge through the disjointed and seemingly unrelated world of the mentally unbalanced when perceived from outside.  The broken parts of everyday life, misunderstood, and hung haphazardly like discarded clothes, held together only by the glue of terror that is the realism of the pathological mind.  While we, the outsiders, long for the moment to finally come when the monster on the counter is perceived for what it is, nothing more than a mug of coffee.
